Ivey Menzietti-Ellis came to Mt. Desert Island, Maine in 1966 with her family. She took various art classes while in school. Some of her fondest memories of her school years were sitting with her many talented friends in the art classroom under the instruction of Ann Holmbom. Ann helped develop her talent in pottery, drawing, painting and jewelry making. In her teens, Ivey took evening oil painting classes from instructor and artist Elise Witham, with her mother and well thought of friends in the community. Ivey is a school teacher of 20 years, but works daily with her art. Her mother and inspiration, Jean Marie Ivey, continues to encourage her love of painting and helps her to develop and refine her technique. Together this mother-daughter team shares a wall of paintings displayed at Flying Mountain Artisans.
